Default experiences with Dell Minis?

I sold some computer stuff and realized I need a netbook for basic school stuff

I like the Dell Mini 9 the most, but the Dell Mini 12 seems to be similiar to a MacBookAir design and I like that.

Overall how much ram do you need to keep the system running smoothly for OSX or XP and not have lag problems and which of these has the best keyboard?(I like a big backspace key)

I'd say 2GB for XP. I don't anything about OSX so someone might be able to help you out.

Alot of the netbooks can be upgraded rather simply at home with extra RAM, if you need, so don't fork out for dells overpriced RAM.

Theres a lot of success with Leopard on the Mini series as well as the MSI wind series netbooks. I would recommend getting the 12 if you want OSX because a lot of programs will be unusable with only 600 vertical pixles. 2GB of ram ran OSX beautifully on my brother's MSI wind netbook.

Google around. There's a lot of information on getting OSX onto these netbooks including my signature.

Can't be done on the 12. The GMA500 won't allow it.

I ended up getting the Dell Mini 10v.......

While its a great little netbook I dont like the fact that you have to practically take apart the entire computer just to put some more ram in.....

You don't have to do that with the Mini 9, but M$ only wants Netbooks to be 1GB max

If you can, throw another 1GB in. It couldn't hurt

Took me only 20 minutes to take it apart, install the ram, and fully re-assemble one, first time as well
