Alright I've tried so many different things.
Sometimes my touchpad works, but IF it does, its when i start of the computer, then gradually over the course of 5 minutes it will start lagging and then it freezes. hitting the space bar and some keys unlocks it or pushing really hard works too but a minute after that it freezes for good.

anyone know what i can do? ive tried asus drivers for the N50 Vn (my model) and drivers right from synaptics. i never had this problem when I ran vista 32bit, but it seems this started when i installed vista 64bit. (i used 64bit drivers).

under a year. I still have asus warranty but I need this thing for school so I cant really send it in at the moment, which is why im trying to fix this thing. As of now I have fully reformatted my HDD and i still have the same problem.

the model it self is more than a year old however

Sounds like maybe the touchpad connection to the motherboard is loose. It should be a simple ribbon cable, but I'd just use a mouse until you can send it in to get fixed.

Yea, it sounds more like a mechanical problem than a software problem. I would go by Drift0r's suggestion of using another mouse until there is a time that suits to send it back for repairs.
