i7 seems to be a great performer, but battery life suffers from it. Surprisingly, it is slightly more efficient in battery life than the Q9000.

The memory supported is determined by the chipset not the CPU, except in the case of the i7 which has an integrated memory controller. The i5 and i7's will only use DDR3. Certain C2D laptops can only use DDR2 while others (including Quad-Cores) can use DDR2 or DDR3.

You won't see a performance hit if you have an 800 MHz fsb CPU running with DDR2 800 MHz. The real issue happens when a manufacturer mismatches memory and cpu putting say a 1066 MHz fsb CPU with DDR2 800 MHz memory instead of the pairing it correctly with DDR3 1066 MHz memory. The only reason for doing this is to cut costs so in this case it should be looked at as a negative.

Otherwise DDR2 vs. DDR3 is neither a plus nor a minus.

You do not have a clue of what you speak. Where this comes from I do not know. I can only guess you are under some misguided delusion that 1066Mhz fsb and 1066Mhz RAM are a 1:1 ratio? They are not!

Regardless what you said is junk!
