i was wondering if this is a good deal?

I got my 6860fx refurbished through tigerdirect for $699 (or was it $650?) almost 2 years ago and it's been great. There was also about $25 livesearch cash back (now bing) availible at the time so make sure you look into that.

The only thing that I don't like about the new Gateway FX laptops is that they don't come with bluetooth anymore. But getting a laptop at half the original asking price is a good deal, you don't even need to ask.
