Does your college partner with any manufacturers to offer discounts? (Noticing your title on your account profile) Through my university I was able to pick up a Dell Latitude E6500 for about a 50% discount. 1440 * 900 LED display, 250 gig 7200 RPM drive, Quadro graphics, 9 cell battery, 4 gigs of RAM, and a T9550 for around $1100. If you school offers any sort of similar program, I'd highly recommend looking in to it.

Any way what you list is vague. What size screen. Your needs don't sound like much but what kind of gaming do you want? So many options that is why I ask.
Yes, that's a threat.

Screen must be 13"+ and >17 and gaming can consist of TF2, HL2, to Need for Speed Undercover. But it doesn't have to be maxed.

Custom built laptops, good prices, 100% customer satisfaction, and upgradable (new gpu comes out, just send in and pay for the upgrade).

2 of my friends have them and are quite satisfied. If I wanted a desktop replacement or mobile gaming solution, I would look no further!

*edit* I just checked and they have core i7 laptops
I'll look into it. Thanks.

My school might, I'll also check into this. I know we get a huge discount with Apple. Thanks.

Hmmm, I've always steered away from Gateways because of their poor quality, I'll check into it.

Where am i getting the quad core and stuff?

Click that. See the 2nd notebook model in the list? It says dv6t Quad Edition series. Click "Customize and Buy" to pick your options.

If you want an 18.4", you can get the GeForce 230M and 4GB DDR3 with an i7-720 for $1,299 by clicking the last model in the list, the dv8t Quad Edition series.

Sorry you've had so many problems with that dv5t . In March I bought another friend a dv5t, and he hasn't had any problems with it.
