Ah, thanks for bringing that to my attention. this is my first venture into the mobile market, so im new to these things. =)

Dual core atom netbooks are dropping soon....that plus Ion will be halfway decent for older games.

AMD is dropping a netbooks chipset, which will be faster than Atom but slower and more efficient than Ion.

I bought an Asus 1005HA and really love it. I am a graduate student and the time finally came to get a portable mini computer to take with me.

Not only that, but it was only $300 and totally worth it.

I'm also thinking about getting a netbook in the near future. What I'd want to do with it is watch videos and chat and stuff, just to get me out of my computer room more often. Oh, and I would hope it would be able to do minor gaming (WoW at worst). Any idea if they're good for that, or should I wait?

So do you think I should wait? (duckie or anyone else) i mean im not looking to spend much more than $300 and I won't be doing anything much word processing, chatting, browsing, and maybe watching video if im ever on a trip of some sort. although their batteries almost don't last long enough for that. It's not urgent that I get one now, i just want one.

Pinetrail won't even do 1080P, the processor is faster but the graphics are less than Ion.

Im just going to go ahead and buy one and then buy another one in 5 years when good SSDs are cheap and inexpensive netbooks outpower my current desktop.

Whats with all of this "coming out?"

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834152142

Atom Z530 + GMA 500. Its not really any faster than the old one, but TDP plummeted, so the battery life should be stellar.

ION is here too...

Pinetrail will be here next year, but I have my doubts over an integrated IGP (no thats not redundant!)

That is the Ion LE, it does only DX9 so it doesn't support fancy Windows 7 graphics (DX10). So yes, there is still a reason to wait for (full) Ion.

I agree about Pinetrail....it's not going to be that much of an improvement, and still below Ion.
