okay i got an hp dv7-1245dx from fry's electronics..i have had it since like dec 2008 or jan 2009....well when i go to like charge it now when it runs out and i am just downloading a movie and watching an anime show
the dang led that says almost out of battery starts blinking even when plugged in....so i am like okay so i mouse over the battery it says pluged-in but not charging??? ***! okay so i even have this problem when i am also running gentoo linux.... what happens is i start to charge the battery while just idle or even browsing the internet and the dang batter brick will feel like it overheats and then the laptop stops charging and then it turns off...so i unplug the power cable i then let it kewl down and then plug it back in while the laptop is off and it still won't charge... either i think it is a bad battery....or a bad power cable.....overall it is a ****ty laptop.. no one ever buy this and i will never buy an hp again... not only that the cpu will overheat and turn off on its own when i fold in gentoo on two cores using idle with two smp clients....it is totally pathetic....talk about cheap product.....the normal idle temp of the cpu in gentoo with like 2-5% of each of the cores being utilized is like 70-80C that is freaking hot and that is in a cold classroom underground in college.... i am planning next laptop either a toshiba or a macbook pro.... i am really thinking about taking it back to fry's and telling them to look at the damn thing.... i have a 2year parts and service warranty from fry's i bought with the dang thing so i hope they can fix it....

Don't feel bad, I have a Dell laptop that the battery has died. I have been trying to get a new battery from Dell for like the last 6 months. Supposedly they have sent me two batteries since then and I still haven't seen a darn battery yet!
I would take the laptop back to Fry's and make em fix it. Looks like from your post that it is still under warranty.
