Default Dv6000 problem

Hi guys. So I've had the hp dv6000 laptop for quite a while. It used to get hot, so I've taken it apart many times, removed the dust, put new layer of thermal compound etc. But after doing this someday, it stopped working. When i turn it on, all the lights light up and it shuts off in like a second... Without making any noise or displaying anything on the screen. Sometimes when I try turning it on over and over it stays turned on, but the screen remains black and it eventually shuts off anyway. Oh and can this happen just because something's not plugged in? I have the motherboard out, evertyhing what's required is there, processor, ram and battery. So what could be the problem? Faulty mobo? I know they're known for braking. Or maybe processor? Also, I'm thinking of selling it all for parts, and putting the money into building a new desktop .

dv6000 Have a known motherboard issue (like you said), but the "extended warranty" ran out a few months back.

The only other thing I can think of is heat.

Is the fans plugged in? Heat Sinks seated properly?

I actually just fixed a clients machine that had a similar problem, they didn't take there laptop apart though.
They had a problem with the dvd drive, someone had bumbed it or something stupid so it wasn't seated properly, i popped it out to examine it and it turned on after with no problems. That is, when the dvd drive was NOT installed it booted with no problems.
I can't say for sure that its the same problem, but its worth a shot.

Bake the GPU in an oven. If not your MoBo is fried.
