Default Windows 7 on a netbook?

I am looking to purchase a netbook (Atom @ 1.6, 1GB RAM, 160GB HD) and I am wondering if Windows 7 runs well on this minimal hardware?

Is there anyone here with experience?

I installed Windows 7 Pro x32 on my ASUS 1000HE and it runs great. I think you will be able to run it just fine on yours (same specs as mine from the looks of it). I got an Index score of 2.0 for the video, but it is just as snappy as XP home was.

Here are my specs:

Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz processor
160GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive (Seagate 5400.5)
2GB of DDR2 RAM (667MHz)
I was also able to install all the ASUS utilities such as performance monitor and audio manager.

I put in a 2gb ram stick in my Toshiba NB205. 7 runs great and I have most of the eye candy on as well. You have to remember it is a netbook and not a desktop but for what it is, I love it. Putting the taskbar on the side of the screen frees up a bunch of space.

I just set my taskbar to auto-hide to free up my desktop space.

i do the same with the task bar. i set it to the left so that the show desktop button is still on the left side of screen like the old windows.set it on auto hide and you got ne sweet set up.

too bad I won tbe using windows 7 anymore cuz i dont want to fork over $40- $200 for a legit copy fo windows 7.

Yea, Windows 7 works just fine on my Acer Aspire One. I had 1 gig of RAM initialy but went to 2. I did not notice much of a difference truthfully.
I am dual booting with the Ubuntu Netbook Remix and Windows 7 is giving me much better battery life (6+ hrs on Windows, ~4 hrs on Ubuntu on a 6 cell battery).
