Default Issues with Dell XPS M1710

Ive been without a virus scanner for a few months (stupid i know, long story) but i downloaded AVG 9 after i found out they were STILL supporting freeware versions.. But i think i caught a virus before i downloaded it, things are constantly freezing, i cant run AVG to scan my computer because it will freeze after 5 mins, ive downloaded malewarebytes and advanced computer care, both which installed fine, but once i started them and tried running them, they would close out, and i would try to reopen them and i would get an error saying "windows could not find the specified device, file or path. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item" My taskbar is on auto hide and yesterday it got stuck up when i tried launchin firefox from the quick start menu... Even my games are freezing.. what gives??

its a no go...ran in safe mode, was able to run virus scanner.. cleared things up, but now its continuing to try and install "adobe acrobat 7" but i kno for a fact that is not really that cause i have the newest version. I even restored my computer back a couple months. Still keeps tryin to install it, i have to keep clicking cancel every time it pops up...im assuming its trying to install a virus or really mess up my computer...any other programs i can try to kill this bug? I dont have a xp disc otherwise i would reinstall windows

Get a copy of HiJackThis on the computer and run it. Scan & Save a log file, repost here and let's have a look.

You can also restart in Windows Safe Mode with Networking, and then try to get get to TrendMicro's Housecall online scan and run that as well.
