Ok here is my question, if I transfer my laptop hard drive to my desktop. Will all of the files including the OS transfer over to the desktop computer? The OS will most likely be windows 7.
Then if it does transfer over to the desktop will I be able to transfer from the lappy hard drive to the desktop hard drive? Thanks for the info +rep to those who help me.

I dont think the OS will work. Are you gonna make an image of your laptop drive?

Nah I won't bother making an image if the OS isn't going to work, I'll just buy an OEM/retail version of W7 in the future. I will just copy the info/games/stuff over to the new computer when i get it. Thanks again.

Yes, and even that will be easier if you follow elito's advice to use separate partitions.
