Sorry if this has been covered before, I did try to search for it. I want to get an HP Mini 311, but I plan to get it through the rewards program on my credit card (I have the points built up, have to use them on something...). They currently only have a 1GB version and I want to get get at least 2GB and run Windows 7 on it. Is it difficult to upgrade the ram in this netbook? Are there instructions or tutorials anywhere that you know of? Do you know what ram I should buy if I wanted 2GB?

It should be just the same as any laptop. Just open the bottom of the case, the ram should be pressed flat, push down on it and it will click and unlock. Then pull it out, install the new ram and push down on it until it clicks into place again. Crucial is always a good brand and im pretty sure they have the ram you need.

I've never opened a laptop. I've built desktops before, just never dealt with the insides of a laptop. From what I read, it sounds like the 311 has 1GB of on-board ram and just has an empty slot for more ram. Is that right? I thought I read somewhere else that some netbooks you have to take the keyboard off to get the ram. I just wanted to know if that was also the case for the 311.
