Hey guys!

So i upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium x64 on my Asus G50V-A2 and life has been fantastic. Then today i get an itch to check Asus' drivers page to make sure i've got all the latest drivers going. I get to the page and i realize that there's been 6 bios updates since my bios version (204).

So i d/l the latest (213) and extract it to my C:\ and figure before i update any drivers, i better flash my bios first. I've got my AC power going on a power surge/back up batter protector and i restart. I press F4 to get to my bios flash and find the bios right where i left it in C:\ and start the process...

erasing blocks, writing blocks, validating blocks, power off in 2 seconds...

Great! says me, and i power up expecting to start the rest of my driver installation going. Well, i'm wrong. The laptop won't turn on, though it tries and with a weird little brzzap beep, turns right back off.

Anyone got any ideas how i go about fixing this? It won't even post and i live in Fresno, CA - home of the "lack of computer service anywhere" town.

Any help is gladly appreciated as i love this laptop and i don't need a 7 lb. paper weight!

Sounds like a bad flash? but it mite be just some BIOS bad setting with the new BIOS. What I think you should do is so clear the CMOS by taking the motherboard battery out. This will require some time because you have to take the laptop apart. Good luck

Disconnect the battery and unplug it from the wall for a few minutes.

so lame! well, i'm glad to hear that it's as easy a fix as taking the mobo batter out. Now only if i can find it...

At least i don't have to send it to an ASUS dealer in LA. I've heard bad service stories...

I'll update when i get it figured out.

check for a reset button on the back and try and hold it for around 30 second then give it a go?

Alright after about 35 or so screws i pry open the casing and i found this blue covered round batter that has an active and ground wire to the mobo to my Asus G50V-a2. Here's a pic showing that i now have it unplugged.

This has to be the right one, right guys?

Well not that it's a easy fix but it's steps you should try or else you may of Flashed a bad bios or it flashed wrong

That looks like a Speaker rather than a battery. I may be completely wrong though. Seek second opinion lol

I think you might be right. I left it unplugged all night and reassembled this morning and it's still doing the whole turn on/turn off with no post...

Anyone know where this mobo's battery is? I kid you not when i say that there's seriously 35 or so screws to get where i did...

There is a small pin hole on the bottom of the laptop that has a button you can press and hold to reset the cmos on the laptop. Also i know my laptop died in a similar manner and then magically the day i was gonna ship it out for RMA it booted :-/

you need a paperclip or something similar to that to depress the button is recessed very far into the case
