Default Any laptops that are optimized for in bed usage?

I'm looking for a new laptop for my Dad, he basically just uses the internet. I was thinking netbook... but anyways he primarily uses his computer while laying in bed, usually laying on his back... you guys know, I do it too sometimes. I was wondering, are there any laptops that have special optimizations for this kind of usage?

I'm not entirely sure what those optimizations would be but it seems like something that could be made and have a market. I know one thing is extra durability to protect against falling asleep and the laptop dropping, which is actually the main reason he needs a new one, lol.

Maybe a thinkbad, they are very strong and very durable and just fine for surfing the web. I can't give you any links as i am in school and they block everything, but just search around for the Thinkpad T series, pretty cheap too.

Look for one with the vend holes on the side of the machine. So it does not overheat, when pressed on the bed sheets. An SSD is far more rugged than an HDD, so a netbook with an SSD would be my best guess. The Asus Eee PC T91 would be a one, it even has a touchscreen.

Don't forget the track point, which is just about perfect in any position.

Get him a T400 with intel graphics. Mine doesn't even get warm until I start gaming, so he wouldn't have to worry about roasting his nuts. I've also dropped mine off of my bed, with the screen open. It landed screen first and was completely fine.

You should be able to pick one up for around $700.

It's weird I would totally expect his hard drive to be FUBAR but it's not. Meanwhile, his power socket has been messed up three times, and his screen hinge has pretty much no retention anymore.

Actually, just about any laptop will do. The best thing to get for in bed usage is a bed tray. Like one for eating breakfast in bed. There are even some specifically designed for laptops. Here is one.

As for him falling asleep and dropping it, ASUS has a 1 year unconditional replacement plan for spills and drops, just for accident prone laptop users. Its at the bottom of the specs.

I use a very large book. You want a flat surface to allow airflow. To use on lap you want less heat which means less power. So many options. Netbook or notebook w/ULV CPU.
