I got my tablet for school in August of last year, and a few months after that bought a modular battery to replace the DVD drive. I used to get positively awesome battery life, between 6 and 8 hours if I used it conservatively. Now it lasts maybe three hours without a charge. One weird thing is that if it has, say 5% left, and I plug it in, it jumps to saying its 50% charged. I downloaded a battery statistic utility and it's the main battery that's doing this. I thought it might be the power management drivers, because I recently tried out Win7 but then went back to Vista because there weren't drivers for biometric reader, graphics, etc.
As I'm writing this I'm realizing I'm not entirely sure I'm getting less battery life or if my computer's battery life indicator is a little messed up. How to tell? I suppose I could just time how long I use it.

Ok i timed my battery life today, i got just under 2:30 on power saver with the display dimmed to about 30%. What's interesting is once it got down to about 45% the rate at which the percentage went down increased dramatically. I'm guessing it's because the bay battery is what discharges first, and since it's newer it holds a charge better than the stock battery.
is there any way to increase battery life besides just dimming the display, turning off wifi, etc?
