So i may be picking up an M7700 minus a working harddrive for around 250-300$(lower if i can haggle well) locally now would you guys say it is a good deal as long as the cosmetic condition checks out with the rest of the hardware?

The specs are FX-60=2.6Ghz X2 along with the 7800GTX 256MB...i am not sure if its the 15" 1900x1200 model or 15" 1440x900 model

So what i am looking for is the best place to find out what upgrade options i have available on this unit...i think i will stick with the CPU albeit a GPU upgrade would need to be in the works for newer titles

I read about one guy upgrading the exact spec'd laptop and he threw in an 8500GT w/512MB Vram

So i figure i might be able to get something similar running on mine

I definitely want to make the jump to 512MB Vram that is for sure

I also have one more question and that being if i don't decide to upgrade the GPU right away i should be able to set in nvidia's control panel for the game to display without stretching? so if the game is running at 1024x768 it will center the game?

I don't think that upgrading the laptop GPU is possible. Yes, you can use the in game settings (IDK about Nvidia Control Panel) to run it in windowed mode and have it centered.

I remember using it in nvidia's control panel and instead of having it centered on your desktop it would just black border the rest of the screen

And this laptop does support gpu up/down grades...
