Laptop Required

I have been asked to find my granddad a decent laptop for below £400 so not bothered about amd/intel just as long as its decent he said hes mainly going to be using it for general browsing of the internet. any help will be greatly appreciated Remember this is UK - so please dont post USA links www.ebuyer.co.uk, www.scan.co.uk etc Thanks!

You can pickup a nice little Dell Inspiron for under $500, which is somewhat close to 400 quid.
Just browse around. Definitely try out the netbook area like Ben said though.

The only problem I can see with a netbook is that they generally don't have a DVD drive. You may want to look into getting him an external USB DVD player if he wants to maybe watch movies on them.
__________________Of course, regardless of what laptop you pick, you should also look into getting him a mouse too. I don't know anyone who would take the touchpad over a mouse.

Lenovo Thinkpads are awesome !! You can have a t60 or t60p core 2 duo for well under $400 USD

I'm guessing that he wants something with a bigger screen and keyboard. Any 15" laptop will do in this case. It's small enough to be portable, and big enough to not cause any strain on vision or typing.
