Default p8600 lock multiplier

my xps m1340 has a p8600 that down clocks to 1.5ghz when under light load but it has been doing it durring css and other applications is there a way to lock the multiplier through windows? Thanks

As far as I know the only way is to disable speedstep and CE1 but that's through BIOS. You might not be able to with a locked BIOS unless there is something software that I have not seen. It you case the throttling is a good thing if it ran full clocks all the time it would more then likely be overheating. For laptops speedstep is a good thing I have mine on and I do not notice any lag or delay when I go full clocks.

I don't think you can disable C1E and SpeedStep because of the locked BIOS and I don't know of any programs that can do it.

But for a laptop, it really doesn't matter because overclocking them is generally NOT best of ideas. The multi will crank back up under heavy load.

Because I have an Asus my power options are not Vista so I do not know the exact options. But you should have options for battery/balance/performance in the control panels Power Options. Performance should lock at max? I also used to use a free application called Notebook Hardware Control for that same purpose.

i tried shutting off speed step but that locks the multiplier so im at a constant 1.6, i guess it really doesnt matter thanks though.
