Default Which Netbook??

Hey everyone, looking to buy a netbook and been looking around but haven't come to final decision. Got about £300-£400 to spend but not immediately, more around christmas. Kinda a lot of similar stuff out there if you know what I mean. Came across this link anyway which helped me out quite a bit http://crave.cnet.co.uk/laptops/0,39...9297248,00.htm
Do you guys think this is a good source to follow.

But I'm still a bit undecided I think the Acer Ferrari One would be quite good but i'd thought I'd get another opinion. I'd like something quite powerful, I mean not overkill but just something that will allow me to play music, watch the odd video, homework and a few other programs. But would the Ferrari be a bit too much?
Just looking for some suggestions. Don't want it to be too big though... decent battery life would be great.

Also I have a small question about 3G enabled netbooks. Basically I have web 'n' walk from t-mobile on my phone contract. I was wondering is there a way I could use my t-mobile settings and connect using the built in 3G?? Or would I have to pay out for mobile broadband??

Thanks everyone, sorry if i've omitted any details... Just ask if you need anymore.

Sorry for my poor knowlege on this, but there's a very nice HP netbook with a dual core atom and an ion chip that sounds perfect for you. Unfortunately I don't know the model number, but I'm sure another member will

Are you by any chance confusing that with the HP mini-Q which is a Nettop? I've tried searching but I haven't seen a dual-core HP Netbook, let alone one with NVIDIA ION in it

To the OP, that Acer Ferrari One will not disappoint, especially with a HD 3200 in it and a snappy 1.2GHz dual-core, do not just judge by its clock speed!

That's the one - looking at both the ferrari is slightly better, but if you want something a bit more understated then the HP is still a good buy imo.
I'm sure whatever you choose you'll like it, I really like my old eee pc 4g surf and it's not even near the specs of those netbooks.

Yeah it looks like it might be better but the HP has a sim card slot! Seems interesting.... Does anyone know if the Ferrari has built 3G (or at least an option to include it??) or an answer to my original question about 3G...

The Asus EeePCs are, of course, always an option. I've heard good things about the Lenovo IdeaPad netbooks as well. I've seen a couple of Dell netbooks with decent specs but don't know much about them.

According to http://experts.thelink.co.uk/2009/09...its-fast-lane/ there is a 3G Module, but I haven't found any other information, maybe you'll have more luck with that.

The rest of the tech spec make this pretty much a netbook for the mainstream, with an 11.6-inch screen (1366 x 768 pixels), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, optional 3G HSDPA module and Dolby surround sound. Apparently, it will also ship with an XPG port for connecting an external graphics device.
As for your 3G question, theoretically it should work from your SIM card.

I'm not sure where the dollar-to-pound conversion would get you, but I've recently decided on the Asus UL30Vt. It's small-ish, very thin, portable, and has excellent battery life. Price is $US800.

If you're looking for something a bit less expensive, then any of the EeePC line by Asus would work well. My wife has a 1001HA that she is very happy with, and we only paid about $US400 for it. They've since released the 1005 and 1008 series, and the 1005 is reported to have one of the best LCDs in the portable computer market.

You're probably thinking of the HP Mini 311, and if you are, it has the single-core Atom with the Ion chipset and graphics. There isn't a version of the HP with a dual core Atom and Ion that I am aware of.

If you like the Ion option, there is also the Lenovo S12 and the yet-to-be-released Asus EeePC 1201N to consider.
