too bad the the fs clubs website isn't up yet, we might have been able to buy this with ad revenue. we really need out own fsx server and this would be perfect (just add a pci 8500gt).

The onboard Radeon 7000 is more than enough. As you don't have to do any graphical data. The only reason I would put a PCI GPU in their is for F@H.

How much power/watts does this thing use at idle/FULL LOAD

I am investing in hardware right now for a server but this would be so much cheaper

On idle my APC UPS says its downing about 300watts. Just with the 2 HDD.

Full load I'm not sure. I've never put it under that much pressure on it. Or worried about it.

Its always been pretty low maintenance. Never had an issue. Put the drives in RAID 0, and let it fly as a Game server.

Never watched it use over 500watts with all slots filled up with HDDs (technically not this server, another Poweredge 2800, because I have 3.)

OUCH thats gonna be too high for me lol, my desktop already uses that much under idle :S I cant have another one of those in my room lol..


Actually, now that I think of it, thats pretty good considering dual slot/CPU....

Hmm, IDK Ill have to think about it for a while lol, the power cost is higher than what I wanted for my room (I wanted something that wont generate much heat)

Well, I can state that it does not generate alot of heat.

Very efficient cooling ( 2 x 3 heatpipe tower coolers)

Noise can be somewhat high unless you turn the fans down.

Like I said, this might end up in my bedroom if our server closet runs out of room, I don't want something like this in my room as we already have a Q9650 @4Ghz generating craptons of heat and eating too much power

Hey tater, you might want to max out the hard drives or ram because if it doesn't come with a a licensed operating system you're more or less selling a very old and heavy paperweight. Check and compare prices on ebay and you'll see what i mean. Wait... because that power edge has a service tag can't you use the OS license that comes with that machine? It might help your sale.
