How To Install Ubuntu first edit your boot order in BIOS to boot from the CD Drive first. this will allow the install cd to boot. after it boots you will see this screen. you will want to select the first option. ![]() after that you will see this. that means it is loading. ![]() then this screen will pop up and it is still loading ![]() after every thing gets loaded which may take some time you will get to the desktop. Now if you want to mess around with it you can. you can even install different programs to test them out. ![]() now to install. click the install icon that is rite on the desktop. you will see this pop up. so that you can select you language. ![]() no you can choose your time zone. ![]() then you can choose your keyboard layout. ![]() Dealing with Partitioning You'll then be presented with three options. This first option is ideal for users who want to set up a dual-boot (where you can choose whether you want to use Windows or Ubuntu each time you boot up your computer) but know very little about setting one up. Ubuntu will guide you through shrinking your Windows partition and creating a new Ubuntu partition out of the free space. this is also if you only have one hard drive and want to dual boot. ![]() The second option is ideal for people who do not want Windows any more and just want to erase it and replace it completely with Ubuntu. you may also use this option if you have a second hard drive and want to dual boot. you just pick the hard drive you want to install too. ![]() The third option is ideal for people who know a little bit about partitioning and mounting of partitions. i have never used this option so i cant tell you anything about how to use it. ![]() next you will come to a screen that lets you import setting from other operating systems. never tried this so i have no clue how it works or what it does. ![]() now type in your login info. you must provide a password. ![]() The next screen shows us a summary of the installation settings. Click on Install button ![]() The hard drive is partitioned, and the Ubuntu system gets installed. This can take a few minutes ![]() After the installation is complete, we must reboot the system to use it. ![]() then after you hit restart your system will begin to shut down. wait until the computer tells you to remove the ubuntu CD before doing so. then you will hit enter and your system will reboot and you may now use ubuntu. after the reboot you will see this screen it is called GRUB and it is a boot loader which makes it so you can select which OS to use. you will choose the top one in most cases then if you dual boot you can select your windows os there too. or if you are only using ubuntu it will automatically boot into the OS after about 2 seconds. ![]()
