So I got really excited and downloaded SLED 10, and I couldn't wait to install it on my laptop. Then, SUSE didn't detect my wireless network card. I ran the system hardware report, and it listed it correctly (broadcom 802.11b/g) but I can't get it to work. And if that wasn't enough, the wired connection didn't work either (some DNS error, but it's probably my router. I can figure that out). ALL I WANT TO DO IS PLAY WITH XGL RIGHT NOW!! LOL but I can't update the driver without internet. I was so excited last night/this morning, and it was just so dissapointing. Any tips?

Well SLED 10 is in its baby stages at the moment there is not much in the way of software or driver support which is a pitty. I would expect that there will be compatibility added for you soon.

well SLED 10 and SUSE 10.1 are basicaly the same but SLED has a customised gnome package. Anyway wireless support is lacking in linux at the moment. Ill look for drivers etc. Open Yast2 and do a search for wireless

drivers is the main problem with all linux distros not just suse. But i found something that will help.
The Broadcom 802.11b/g WiFi chip in the laptop is not supported directly under SUSE Linux 10. The workaround is to use a Windows driver with ndiswrapper. Don't worry, it works great. Setup isn't hard, although there are quite a number of steps. The setup can all be carried out as root. http://www.linuxplanet.com/linuxplanet/reviews/6139/3/

It's integrated in the new kernel. If i'm not mistaken, that's the Airport Extreme in my iBook too.
