I havent seen anything like it for linux but you can get info about the CPU by looking at the contents of /proc/cpuinf. "# apt-get update && apt-cache search" hwinfo, lshw , lshw --short, lspci, remember it is one at the time. Since you just started with ubuntu you may want to take a look at my faq which has some great links for starters.

I really like SuSE also. The best is really what ever works for you the best. The great thing about linux is its free, so try out a bunch of distro's and see what works the best for you. If you really like Ubuntu then maybe try Debian. Thats what Ubuntu was based off of. Others really like Fedora core 5, Gentoo, and Slackware. Gentoo and Slackware are more geared towards the advance user, but a hand book can help you learn a lot and save you from a lot of stress.

Also, to see CPU info type this in a terminal: cat /proc/cpuinfo
You also find there is a Prime95 for Linux and a benchmark called Umark.
