I havent seen anything like it for linux but you can get info about the CPU by looking at the contents of /proc/cpuinf. "# apt-get update && apt-cache search" hwinfo, lshw , lshw --short, lspci, remember it is one at the time. Since you just started with ubuntu you may want to take a look at my faq which has some great links for starters.
