I have a usb hard disk with a 80gb drive inside and i was wondering how hard it is to intall linux (hopefull suse) on the usb hard disk so that when i want to boot linux i can plug it in. This is partly because i only have a 40gb hdd in my laptop and if i dual booted 20 gb for each is poor
i dont really want to buy another laptop disk so if it can be done please let me know or give me any pointers.

Don't install SuSE onto it. It'll suck. Install Damn Small Linux or Puppy - they're designed for this sort of task. You could even try linux from scratch, if you have the guts

LFS is not too bad, but a friend and I tryed it. Learned a lot but also lots of headaches, lol. If you want to try it go for it, but DSL would probably be the best otherwise. If you really wanted SuSe, I think it'd might work if you stripped it down a bit.

Ubuntu has something now that lets you use the live cd and save your work and setting to the usb flash drive. Just a thought.

Dude, dual booting 20 GBs should be fine. Or 15/15 and 10 for transfering data. Unless you're doing a lot of bittorrent and have a lot of mp3s, you should be fine.
