Default I need a VERY FAST linux distro

I know this question is kind of hard to answer but Which do you think is the fastest linux distro? I need one that is maintained regularly, debian based preferably, dont care if it is gnome or kde, it also must me intel compatible. Gracias por adelantado.

GNOME/KDE != fast. In fact that's probably why Ubuntu seems slow. Try loading up XFCE instead of Gnome on your Ubuntu, you'll probably notice a big difference.

Have you tried isntalling XFCE on Ubuntu? Gnome tends to use alot of resources, but XFCE is much more effecient
