Today i insatlled fc5 on my brothers laptop and i cant get network to work. On boot up there are alot of errors etc and when i do modprobe it says cannot load /lib/modules/2.6.16.20-0.12/modules.dep and when i look in /lib/modules i only find 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5

Whats going on here ? its ahuge problem as i cant get and drivers or attempt to fix the problem becuse the wired or wireless will not work. oh yer also the sound wont work.

Its a sis900 onboard laptop network and its shows up in gnome network tools but when i activate it it says sis900 device eth0 does not seem present delaying initilization

Did you verify the install DVD? It's possible some of the files could have been missing, thus causing your errors.

ill do that now and get back to you its cds btw but i may have written them too fast or something. Im on holiday atm but its a bit wet so i though i could do this.


It didnt come up with errors on insatll media but the problem could be that i installed using linux expert selinux=0 reiserfs ?
