I think my prayers were finally answered. I always prefered xfce to GNOME, but I never liked the idea of no launchers on the desktop. I stumbled upon iDesk and it basically gives the minimalist desktop environments the ability to have all sorts of cool desktop icons.
I'm at work right now, but I'll give it a try when I get home. It seems as though is the perfect answer for me. Anyone else use it with success?

Looks promising to me. I've always liked XFCE better than the other minimal windows managers, but iDesk might make it onto my laptop.

Oh, and if you know you have your drivers installed, but XGL won't recognize them, you can force XGL to run by running "gnome-xgl-settings", holding Shift, and double-clicking on the "3d Disabled" text.

Console. I would use the newest kernel and then use the livna repo - but the new 21xx kernels do NOT like RAID arrays. I've also tested the experimental 2197 version - but I still get the same result. Hopefully I wont have to wait until FC6 to get DRI working. If it would work then I would drop windows and use cedega as my gaming methods.

Alright, I kind of scrapped that idea. Turns out I dont' like xfce, I like Xubuntu desktop, which I THOUGHT was xfce but who knows.
I'm still going to give it a go anyway. I'll post screenies with results.

It is XFCE. But it'll be configured different. Just like the kororra live cd and actual Xgl.
