yes...i have dial up... laugh as you will, but i've tried Damn Small, Knoppix, and Ubuntu linux, and i like them all, exept for the fact that it wont detect my modem. please help out a linux newbie... thanks!

then best guess u have a winmodem like me so unless u have suse 9 and up(the only one that i know of that has winmodem support) ull have to download the drivers this site might also help u a little http://linmodems.org/
__________________i have lucent chipset that is now owned by agere but lucent droped its support for linux on its site and agere has none on thier site from what i can tell edit: also if u do have a lt winmodem this site will suppy you with drivers for most of the mainstream distros http://www.heby.de/ltmodem
