Default Im finally trying linux... well sorta

I am currently tryin out Damn Small Linux... Its a pretty good package for how small it is. Its not on my main compy, but i just wanted to try something different. IMHO i dont see a reason to go to the other linux's <sp?
DSL seems to have everything i need. Im mainly tryin to get my parents to use linux because my parents/ sister are very virus prone. But yea i thought id let them try something new. I must say that i am highly impressed. After i finally got it installed (took like forever im a linux noob) and set up everything i needed and my family needed. It makes this computer seem so fast. Well thats about it i just wanted to let you guys no.

Also if you guys think i should go to a different linux state why. If a certain type of linux is better for me let me know. I just thought that id try dsl cuz im impatient and it dled the fastest. Ok thats about it....

There are many fairly simple distro's you can try, some being more advanced. Mandriva One is pretty easy to setup, Knoppix is easy too. best thing is to try different distro's see what works for you.

Well- necause DSL is so small, other distros have a lot more "stuff".. And more eyecandy, nicer GUI's, etc. If you actually like DSL, by all means use it! But be sure to look at other distros- for fun if nothing else

If you want something that has a Windows feel to it, while still including Advanced tricks but being relatively easy, try Ubuntu.

if you want a distro that is simple to use and muppet proof get ubuntu i guess this is what you want as you stated that you sister/parents are using it. However if you want something a little more advanced and actuarly want to learn alot of new stuff get a distro like Fedora Core or OpenSuse

no most good linux distros are completly free. A great one to try is ubuntu for the first time user. Head over to http://www.ubuntu.com/ for more info. Unlike microsoft the kind people at ubuntu will send you a free cd of the os or you can download it There are loads of fdifferent distro options. Some of the most known are OpenSuse, Fedora Core and Gentoo

Just to reiterate squeeky- Ubuntu will SHIP you a CD FREE- (Actually more than one- more like 10) if you dont want to download it. Not only give you a free CD- But even SHIP free! Only problem is it is a bit slow.. so I always download
