Default Linux noob needs help!

Hey Guys

I need to know what email programs are set up on Suse Linux, how to configure and how to use them as a everyday email client, how to network the drives on my computer so other computers can store information on them, and how to backup information to the computer from my other two computers.

Seems like a lot, I need ya help

I would download mozilla thuderbird. I use it in windows and linux both and its an amazing email client. you can download it directly from the mozilla site. If you need any further help just let us know.

edit: for the network thing do a google on samba sharing. I haven't done linux networking since madrake 8 but i remember samba sharing is how i did it between linux and windows.

I second mozilla thunderbird.

I know you can use Samba to set up a network so that a linux pc can access the internet through a windows pc, but I'm not sure if you set up file sharing with it (especially with linux's disposition to the ntfs file system). Then again, my networking knowledge is very limited.

as long as u install ntfs support on ur linux box u can use samba to access ntfs windows partitions. I've done it before. Just not with anything other than mandrake 8 and 9.

iirc you don't need ntfs support to use samba, samba will access network files without without ntfs.... so if you have samba installed, working, and connected great. having ntfs enabled will only let you mount ntfs partitions physically connected to your computer...
