It's Ubuntu. That little icon in the main menu is dependant on the curent icon set you are using. All you have to do is use a different icon theme (some use the ubuntu symbol and others the gnome foot thing)

Here's what Gentoo is running right now, I'm still trying to find a better desktop but this one will suffice for now.

Nothing too fancy, just straight-up Gnome. I'll get around to XGL once I can figure out the Nvidia drivers.
