Alright i like linux and all but i hate how i cant change the screen reso. its HUGE! This can also be because i'm only a live cd but if i decide to not go by bootable cd can i change the screen reso or not?

im pretty sure that any os trying to compete against windows would allow you to change the screen resolution. i have never used linux but there are some gurus on here that should be able to confirm that you can change the resolution.

Bump #2.
You would use the xrandr command to see a list of valid screen modes, and you would press "ctrl-alt-minus" or "ctrl-alt-plus" to quickly scan through them. You most certainly can change the screen resolution--you can rely on autodetection, or you can force a list of valid modes in your xorg.conf/XF86Config file. |
