I used to use Linux a while back, maybe 8 months ago was the last time I used Ubuntu Linux (Dapper).
Today, I decided, why not dual boot? So I downloaded Feisty Fawn, popped in the DVD, and boot it up. ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS. I can't seem to get it to work with my drives. I know the Gigabyte DS3 uses a JMicron SATA controller and that Dapper had a problem with it as well, but my "fix" that I used for Dapper doesn't want to work for feisty (added in the "all_generic_ide" option before booting the livecd).Any ideas? Anyone else here got Ubuntu 7.02 running for them on the DS3? Last edited by Bindusar : 05-22-07 at 04:45 PM. |

there must be something else wrong.. fiesty has the jmicron support i use the s3 and installed just fine.. both the 32 and 64 bit versions ive had sunning on this box.. in fact fiesty has had the best support for my motherboard and hardware then ive seen yet with linux.. are you using the right sata port mines plugged into the top orange one on the top port.. it picked it up no problem what so ever ..

I'm trying to get it installed right now ![]() I doubt the sata controller is the problem tho - my ds3 didn't have problems before and isn't having disk problems now. What are the symptoms?
