When attempting to install wine using ATP, in the terminal it's telling me 404 not found for the ubuntu 7.04 release.

Is the link dead or am i missing something?

Thanks!

Default Ok...ima nub

guys...im just trying to get linux to run for the pretty good gaming...i use slackware and i find it pretty good however..hehe switching from windows xp to linux. i know someone there is someone who is gonna say "go back to windows, if u dont know how to use linux dont bother with it" well im sorry i have a passion for learning, and i want to learn this. Ive downloaded wine to my linux system however....i wanna scream at it sometimes.. after hours of searching google and forums i can never find a simple step by step guide (click this type this click this).... can anyone please hop on msn messenger or windows live and help me install wine. Im used to a single executable file that will install it all for me..i cant do that now til i get wine...i cant go online on my linux cuz i need wine to execute the file on a disk i have to install my wireless modem so instead of switching back and forth between operating systems it would be SO helpful if someone would please teach a tard how to install wine.

Um, first, welcome to OCN.

Second, if you wanted easy, why are you using Slackware? It's one of the most difficult Linux distributions there is, especially if you're new to Linux.

Definitely install ubuntu; it'll make your Linux experience a LOT easier.

WoW runs fine just by installing it off your CD or downloading it from blizzard. COD4 has some minor issues which you can workaround to get it running. (Some Steam games need a small bit of tweaking to get working.) The Linux gamers around here can give you more details if you need them. For Wine compatibility for other things check the database.

slackware is difficult cause it doesn't use dependency chains, you prolly don't have all the needed installed software to run wine correctly.

slackware are for really really into linux users. if you want a light weight Linux, that might not demand as much from your system, you can give arch linux or gentoo a go(these are not for the beginner either, give ubuntu or fedora a walk around the park for about six months then move on, arch has precompiled packages that you install what you want, where gentoo, you compile it all from scratch from a command line, it can be daunting.)

most people will be forever happy with ubuntu/linux mint or fedora, the other distro's are for ppl who really want to understand how linux works, buidl their own and what not.

hope you have great success, you will love ubuntu
