Default Linux How To: Install Google Earth

In this example we will use ubuntu as with most of my how to's considering thats primarily what I use for desktop use.

First download the required bin file from google via the following link
Once you have downloaded the required file you will then need to chmod the permissions so that you can execute it to start the installer. To do this open a terminal and use the following command after navigating to the appropriate directory where you have saved the bin file.
Quote:
chmod +x GoogleEarthLinux.bin
Once this has been done you are ready to execute the installer, by executing:
Quote:
./GoogleEarthLinux.bin
Once here the installer will start and finish the installation. When you are complete you will now have google earth installed, which will also add an entry into your applications menu, and a shortcut on the desktop Enjoy!
