I figured out what its referring to, however the numbers still don't match. I'm just curious is all really. Not a big deal. Heres some different memory usage screenshots.

Cache, eh? That's where most of it is going?

free -m and PerlMon are both static programs, meaning they get the needed data and never update it again (plans to change that with PerlMon), where as the other two monitors are constantly update themselves. Every new application that is started will use some memory and depending on the order in which the applications are started will change the amount of free/used memory. Make sense?

Release 0.1.3
This release is still a bit rough I'm sure. hddtemp and lm_sensors support added, but not test on any other machines. The Dirsto module was changed a lot again, and I have not tested it much (no more system calls/terminal spawns, yay!). Worst thing that can happen though is that it'll crash. Please report bugs to me if you come across any. I only have Arch on my desktop any more, so its the only thing PerlMon is tested on anymore. It took to much time, space, and effort to have 5 OSs installed , but all should still be good.

Nice update. The discrepancies with available memory are still there, but no biggy. The sensor reading does not work, but I blame that on my MOBO (lm sensors doesn't read crap from it). Will run it on my Kubuntu machine latter today.

Yeah, nothing with the memory has been change, still reads from /proc/meminfo as I feel its the best place to get that info.
for lm_sensors, if its installed and you can try running sensors-detect and answer yes to everything. then run /etc/rc.d/sensors start (maybe different on ubuntu, but that worked on Arch) then see if it gets anything new. Then helped me pick up a lot of info.

Have you tried modprobing the module you need in case sensors-detect doen't do it?
