try: unzip PerlMon*.zip
its actually not a tar file since they can't be uploaded to OCN.

Just wondering if you only tried to run it normally and it failed b/c the Gtk2 dependency wasn't ment, you can try to run it in text-mode and then it should work. (text-mode: perl perlmon --nogui). The warning isn't from PerlMon, its from Perl.
