This is exactly what I tried, the no gui mode (text).
perl perlmon -nogui Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi/Gtk2.pm line 63. None of it works: perl perlmon -v Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/i386-linux-thread-multi/Gtk2.pm line 63. perl -v This is perl, v5.8.8 built for i386-linux-thread-multi |

If you don't remember, you can open the file "perlmon" and after the license info theres some lines that say use this, use that, and right after that theres a variable that holds the version number. It looks like Gtk2-Perl isn't installed. There was a bug in version 0.1.0 and 0.1.0-2 where even if you ran it in text mode (where no GTK2 code is required) it would fail and not run if Gtk2 or Gtk2-perl was not installed. In version 0.1.1, this should be fixed. I tested it on a system without Gtk2-Perl installed, and text mode will now work, it just throws out a warning that Gtk2.pm could not be found at the top of all the program output.

On my distro you also need gtk2-perl, but then you would get another error. But atleast see if you have these installed. |
