Has anyone tried the DX10 .dll's? Is there any benefit?

This should be a sticky. Great tips; did not do anything significant as far as compatibility goes, but these things are always good to know. Just wished they had more audio tweaks because this area is where Wine really sucks.

Edit: Just a heads up. Some of these tweaks will break compatibility with some (if not most) games, so it's all trial and error basically. Setting the rendering mode to opengl only really works on titles with really good opengl support (some newer games for example), so you may be better off just setting it to gdi (it's not that much slower anyways). The video memory tweak is also hit and miss; setting it to your card's memory size does not always work (for me at least); on all my linux machines (x200, x800gto, 6800) setting the max. value prevented many games to even run (most 3D titles did work thought); the default 64 works best.

Really, that's news to me, it especially surprises me about the video memory. And I also agree with you about the audio thing, I can't seem to get audio on Stalker working, and I have tried almost everything.

Just a FYI

Code:
caedis@hypernova:~$ wineprefixcreate
Note: wineprefixcreate is deprecated and shouldn't be needed anymore.
WINEPREFIX creation and updates now happen automatically when needed.
I have Wine 1.1.20, not sure when that was implemented.
