Hmm... Is "SteamInstall.exe" in your home folder (aka /home/<username> aka ~)? Because that's your pwd (present working directory.)

If that file is not located in your home directory, you're pointing to a file that doesn't exist. You need to cd to the directory in which the SteamInstall.exe file resides and then use wine on it.

K I finally got DoD:S to work under Ubuntu but still experiencing a few minor problems. I noticed my FPS dropped significantly and my sound doesnt work as well. Is there any Nvidia drivers or audio drivers I'm missing?

Also I get this window from Steam tellling that my GPU driver is outdated and under Description it says Direct3D HAL instead of GF 5950 Ultra.

I think those might just be some problems that are gonna suck until Valve decides to make native Linux stuff. I have the "native" Doom 3 for Linux, and the sound still sucks, for example (not that Valve made D3.)

GNOME Menu --> Administration --> Synaptic Package Manager --> search "wine" --> check the checkbox --> "Apply"

It's installing the game that's the hard part...

Hmm, I've been reading the the Creative X-Fi drivers aren't out on linux yet (to be released apparently) so i was wondering (sorry if this is off topic, i guess it has to do with source) if i could use the onboard sound card on my Asus A8N 32-SLI Deluxe? Any particular drivers i would need to download?

Not having sound in source is like not having pasta in lasagne...
