I'm using Wine 09.33 on Xubuntu 7.04. System specs are in my sig... Using newest nVidia drivers....
__________________Wine works great with all of my apps except one. I can't get around that Registry in use error when I try to play STEAM games... I've hit every forum, The Wine AppDB and googled my behind off and tried everything I could find...upgraded to 09.45(which broke everything), wineboot, wineprefixcreate, killall wineserver, delete client registry blob, open & close STEAM, game cache integrity.... rebooting.... Only HL2 works.. Episode 1, Lost Coast, CS:S and HL: Source peter out... Anyone have some info on how to fix this? I'm quickly going bald!!! ![]() Thanks in advance.....

If you don't mind it try updateing to the latest (always recommended) and completely reinstalling steam (possibly in another folder). Save all your other programs by renaming your .wine folder something else, then update, then do all the things you would do before installing an app (winecfg, editing your registry keys ect.). Then reinstall steam and your games. I can't guaranty this will work it is just what I would do.

Well... I installed Hl2 and Episode 1... on 0.9.46 with the registry tweaks... I still get the registry in use issue. But if I start the games several times they finally fire... But now I have an additional problem... My Xfce panels remain in the screen ...

Code:
sudo aptitude purge wine Enable Fiesty Backports in Software Sources.. That will at least give you 0.9.41 instead of 0.9.39. Installing from the repos will give you menu entries making it easier to configure and use Wine. Also check the Wine App DB to make sure what you wish to run is supported: http://appdb.winehq.org/ Hope this helps you out!!!

I would argue that the latest version is always the best, regressions problems are very rare in Wine.
Anyway Reset3x, you are not the only one with this problem http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6297 Quote:
