will raid cards work in ubuntu?

ok i know nothing about raid cards and all newegg says is that all of there cards support windows.
so if i get a raid card will ubuntu recognize it?

Depends if the manufacturer has Linux drivers for it.
Check the manufacturer's website and see if they let you download drivers. Also, do a google search, since it might be tricky to set it up in Linux (esp. when you want to install Linux on a drive attached to the RAID card). For Windows, you'll need to load drivers also

It all depends on if you can find drivers. Is your onboard RAID part of the nVidia chipset or a seperate chip?

yep, for onboard RAID you'll also need drivers. Same issue.

Linux has better support for raid cards AND onboard RAID is just software RAID configured in the BIOS
