Strange concept I'm sure...
__________________But I cannot for the life of me figure out how to reformat this pos, and then install Ubuntu 7.07 or whatever it is. I've checked every option when I load the disk in, nothing even hints at how to reformat the bloody drive. Anyone help a linux retard?

Boot from the CD, choose "install Live CD" or whatever the first option is (you might like to change your resolution you're gonna use with F4 first, though.)
It'll start loading the "Live CD" where you can experiment with Linux and test things before you install. You get the desktop GUI and everything in this demo "Live CD." If you decide to install, click the installer on the desktop, and it'll guide you through. The installer will give you the options for reformatting your HDD however which way you choose.

Use the Live CD, you can also download it as an ISO and burn it to a DVD. After that you run Ubuntu off the DVD, you go to the installer and it will format and install everything.

No....saw the install icon and just wondered..."***?"
__________________I mean, it just says..."install". My natural wonder is..."Install what?" I didn't realize it made some sort of "ubuntu-lite" before you actually do a full install. Time to go put it on that XP1800 comp fully.
