Hmm... I guess that means that for some reason it can't find this directory:

/home/<user>/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32

You might like to try doing something with the "winecfg" command. You can choose libraries (I don't know what those do) and what windows to emulate (3.1 all the way to vista, I believe, like choosing "run in compatibility mode" in windows)

alright, I have it on Win 2000 right now. . .Ill play around with it a bit. I checked so I know the system32 dir is there :-/

just download the steam exe and launch it wine should start up automatically

I get this error when I try to run it via wine after DL:



also, it may just be a setting but alot of my windows will move so that the top is above the bar @ the top. . . forcing me to right click task bar to move them. any suggestions?

I can't get it to work either, When I use either install method, the terminal based way, or the symnaptic, it just says program list is out of date, click refresh to update. When I click refresh, I try to click the box again to install it, but it gives me the same ordeal. How would one go about that problem, and yes the internet is working on it.

Are you using the .exe installer or the msi installer?

ERm.... on a fresh install of 7.10 ultimate... if you go to programs, wine, wine doors... wine will autoinstall..........

much easier.
