Dont worry about bridging. Just set the LAN connection on your gaming PC for internet connection sharing and assign it a static IP (192.168.100.1, subnetmask: 255.255.255.0). Then setup Ubuntu to use a static IP, give it a different IP (192.168.100.2, same mask) than the gaming PC, and tell it that it's gateway is the IP for the gaming PC. Should route straight through the PC.

Ok.... now you're confusing me... Is this your setup....
.................................................. ....................Internet .................................................. .......................^ ........Ubuntu Computer < Gaming computer < Router > Dad's computer To setup ICS on windows XP just go Start > Control Panel > Network Connection > right click the Lan Connection > Properties. There will be a tab for Sharing.

Quote:
Router > Dads PC <wifi> gaming PC > Linux PC..... anyway... you setup internet connection sharing on the GAMING pc, not the linux. The linx (and vista) will need to have their LAN connections configured to use a static IP (reference first post) and have their gateway set as the static IP on your gaming PC.

and whats even harder is i dont even have a hardrive for this pc so once i shut it off i have to configure it all over again lol i think ill wait till i can get a HDD to store ubuntu on. does xubuntu run alot faster since it uses less resources, i think i might use that instead of ubuntu for the coppermine pc.

Okay, let me get this straight. Your dad's PC is hooked up to a wireless router with the main cable connection (router + modem + PC)? You are running a cable from one of the LAN ports in the router to another PC? Finally, you connect to the main router (on another PC) with a wireless adapter? Am I right so far?

Reference the first post on IP's to use Qurt, but what you need to do is setup windows to use a static IP and enable ICS (internet connection sharing). Then setup ubuntu to use a static IP as well, and you should be done.
