Default Change background in Linux Mint (Gnome)

So I just got Mint running, and I was wondering how to change the background that you see when changing workspaces. Is that even possible? Thanks in advanced.

In gnome you can only apply one wallpaper for all your desktops. There is a script somewhere that lets you do different ones, but I wouldn't know. Only KDE lets you set different wallpapers to different desktops.

not the normal desktop background, the one that you see temporarily when you change workstations.

Also, when i change workstations now i don't get the cube effect anymore... I'm not sure what changed but I don't know how to re-enable it. could anyone help me out?

So are you talking about the background when you switch Workspaces/Virtual Desktops? Someone here ought to know how to change that.

To use the cube, you must enable 4 Workspaces. If you only have 1, 2 or 3, you won't get a cube.

Yeah, that's what I'm looking for. I had 4 workspaces enabled, and with mint i was getting a cube effect even with 2 workspaces. either way i just did a fresh install and hopefully it'll stay.

You'd just need a bash script that is always checking to see if the active desktop changed, if so change the background, sleep for a few seconds, then change it back.

I'm not familiar enough enough gnome, but I think one thing I'd use would be gconf-editor (to probably send commands to change the background) and maybe dbus to track the active desktop.

Is it anything like the Skydome? You know when you rotate the cube in compizfusion you see the skydome in the background? Might check under the settings for the cube.

There are no settings for the cube, or if there are I can't find them. As of right now I just see this ugly blue color in the background when changing workspaces.

Also, I guess my explaination was a bit too vague, because lots of people seem to mis-enterpret my question
