I am try to install this and it has stoped at 82%
configuring apt 82% scanning the mirror... is what it shows in on the screen it has been at 82% for over an hour now any thoughts on this?

Damn... Well, I think this has happened to me once or twice before. Now when I install Debian-based distros, I turn off networking so that it skips this stupid step (it does this to download languages you will never ever use.)
So I'm assuming you're using wired internet, yes?

that would be correct will unplugging the cable be enough to fix it you think?
there really is no need for the computer to be hooked up to the net anyway

Unhooking the internet alleviated the problem for me before. If your problem is the same as mine, this might fix yours as well.
