Default Will ubuntu 7.10 work with 8800 GT

Hello, I have a galaxy 8800 GT and am wanting to go to ubuntu 7.10. I want to be able to use wine and play counter strike source in ubuntu. Are there still issues with the 8800 GT?

I had it working using the nv drivers but had better results downloading the package from NVidia and compiling it.

Basically make sure you

apt-get install kernel kernel-headers kernel-dev gcc gcc-c++ automake make-tools

then download the package from NV

The 8800 series should be OK to get you going in 7.10 but without GLX.. If you want the newest drivers try Envy.
