Thanks for the bump... I've been thinking about the iPod Touch lately when you reminded me of this.

Lately, I've been wanting something that can get me on the internet really fast to check something without having to sit down and then boot something up.

this is good at that. i use it at home so i can be in the living room and still get online to check things.

I was thinking about having something like this for use around campus. If I'm walking somewhere, I don't want to have to find a place to sit down and boot up my laptop. I'd like something I can jut take out of my pocket, hit "on," then load up a browser.

I'm going to have to do a comparison between this and the Touch...

does your campus have a wireless network all over. if so this would be nice and hopefully someone will port abiword to it soon. then you can do minor word processing.

How are its media playing abilities? music/video. Can the browser play pandora?

Yes, although you have to go through a login page and type in your campus ID and password.

It's an open network that anyone can connect to, but to get external internet connection, you must have an ID and password. Does that make sense?

Abiword is a decent word processor; I'd like to be able to do some word processing with my handheld, whatever it ends up being. Does it have a mini version of OOo or something?

Yes, I'd like to know as well. What media formats does it support, and what is the player software like?

no OOo either. there is talk about an abiword port because OOo is a very large program.

rite now the best media player i have found is Canola2 Media Player

you can add Ogg Support

it has Streamtuner, and Vagalume

Damn. They both have stuff I like, and then stuff I don't like.

I can get a 16GB Touch for $320 at school... That's only $20 more than the 8GB.

Damn, no IMing on the Touch? That sucks.

there might be a way to im if you hack the touch but like for my wife i dont want to risk that.
