this will be updated as i get time and will only be updated from my nokia n810
the nokikia n series deviceses use the maemo operating systems which are 06, 07, 08. you can upgrade yor n800 to os 2008 if you choose to but you might loose a program that you need because you can not use 07 software on the 08 OS. and you can't install older OS's on new devices. i will be talking about the n810 with OS 08 Size * Volume: 128 cc * Weight: 226 g * Length: 72 mm * Width: 128 mm * Thickness: 14 mm Display * High-resolution 4.13" WVGA display (800 x 480 pixels) with up to 65,000 colors Processor * TI OMAP 2420, 400Mhz Memory * DDR RAM 128MB * Flash 256MB Storage * Up to 2GB internal memory * Support for compatible miniSD and microSD memory cards (with extender). Supports cards up to 8GB. (SD cards over 2GB must be SDHC compatible.) Operating times* * Battery: Nokia Battery BP-4L * Continuous usage (display on, wireless LAN active): up to 4 hours * Music playback: up to 10 hours * Always online time: up to 5 days * Standby time: up to 14 days *Operating times may vary depending on the radio access technology used, configuration and usage. The availability of the product and its features depend on your area and service providers, so please contact them and your Nokia dealer for further information. Other characteristics * Smooth slide with integrated QWERTY keyboard * Built-in GPS receiver * High quality stereo speakers and sensitive microphone * High-resolution widescreen display * Integrated desk stand * Integrated VGA web camera * HW key to lock touch screen and keys * Ambient light sensor Connectivity * WLAN standard: IEEE 802.11b/g * Bluetooth specification v. 2.0 +EDR o Profiles supported: HID, FTP, DUN, GAP, SPP, HSP, SAP and OPP * USB 2.0 high speed * 3.5 mm stereo headphone plug (Nokia AV here are some pics of the N810 ![]() ![]() ![]() so i here you say what do all these specs mean well the weight is good it feels solid but not to heavy to hold. the slider feels strong so i dont feel like it will break the 800x480 screen means that you can view webpages at there full width you can hook up to a wireless network and with bluetooth you can use a bluetooth keyboard and you can use a phone as a modem Saved For Size Comparison

this is going to be where i describe how to back up your configuration before updating your nokia and how to update your nokia.
Warning Before flashing click the quote to see info on the other Nseries devices. so im going to be doing this for the first time while writing this up for you guys. i bought mine used and every thing seams perfictly fine but i want to start fresh. and the OS needed updated too because i think it was one of the first versions. go here for windows info but once you get every thing for windows im sure the steps will be the same. Backing up your system to back up your system first go to the Application menu, and select Settings > backup/restore create a new backup and then i will be saving it to my add on memory card. you will see this screen. remember that you can only back up part of what you have not everything. ![]() Now to start the updating check your firmware to see if you need to update. tap on the Application menu, and select Settings > Control panel > About product. i have version 1.2007.42-19 rite now download linux flasher 3.0 and put in a directory where you can find it. now you need to go to IT OS -- List of firmware images to get the most up to date firmware for your product. to download your firmware update you must provide your 12 digit WLAN MAC address which you can find under your battery or under where you found your version number. you only have one hour to download your update after you enter your product ID. as of rite now the most current version is 2.2007.51-3 put this file with the first one you downloaded. Make sure the battery of your N810 is fully charged. now to get down and dirty. Unplug charger and switch off the Nokia N810. Connect the tablet to your computer via USB without turning it on now on your pc change directory to where your files are saved and Execute as root (or as a normal user with rights to use the USB port) Code:
./flasher-3.0 -F RX-44_2008SE_2.2007.51-3_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R Code:
endo@endo-desktop:~$ cd /home/endo/Nokia Code:
endo@endo-desktop:~/Nokia$ sudo ./flasher-3.0 -F RX-44_2008SE_2.2007.51-3_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R Now plug in the charger to switch on the N810 or switch it on using the power button WHILE holding the Home-button IF this does not work like it didnt for me try this. get both of the things downloaded and but somewhere that you will be able to find them no change directory into that folder and type Code:
chmod a+x ./flasher-3.0 Code:
./flasher-3.0 -u -F RX-44_2008SE_2.2007.51-3_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin now type Code:
./flasher-3.0 -F RX-44_2008SE_2.2007.51-3_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R then you finish things up like above. plug in the charger to switch on the N810 or switch it on using the power button WHILE holding the Home-button Note: Nokia DOESN'T SUPPORT this procedure in ANY way. You can follow this procedure at your own risk. Neither me or Nokia have the responsibility of any damage caused to your device. this is the second way that i suggested but it is the only way i could get this to work. now you can go in and restore all your files.

it was $400 used on ebay with an extra 4 gig memory card. i think there pretty reasonable but you can also get the N800 for less.
